Our Team

We are fortunate to have a team of dedicated, caring people as your pet's healthcare team.  Each and every one has been called to this profession by a deep respect and love for animals.

Veterinarians

David Manobla, DVM

Dr. Manobla was born and raised in New York City.  He did his undergraduate work at CSU, then went to Cornell University in upstate New York and graduated with his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1983.  Dr. Manobla (or "Dr. M" as he is commonly known) loves running, hiking, fishing and antique cars and trucks.  His ever faithful companion is Kiwi, a Jack Russell terrier.

Practice Manager

Kevin McHugh

Kevin was born and raised in the great state of Wisconsin.  He grew up on a 40 acre farm where he and his six brothers raised chickens, pigs, and cows.  It is from that upbringing that his love for animals emerged.  In 2000, Kevin ventured west to Colorado to attend Colorado State University where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Zoology.  Kevin enjoys running, biking, hiking, fishing and spending time with his new dog Hazel, an Aussie Shepherd/Cattle dog mix.

Veterinary Assistant Team

Rachel Saurman, Veterinary Assistant
Rachel was born and raised in Belen, NM.  She graduated from New Mexico State University with a bachelor's degree in Anthropology, trained as an archeologist, and lived for a time in Belize, excavating Mayan ruins.  Rachel began working as a veterinary technician in Bloomington, IN, then moved to Denver in 2005.  Her interests include Elizabethan recreation fencing, Judo, Brazilian Jin-jitsu, and Muay Thai kickboxing.  Her furry family includes Zoe, a husky-lab mix; Bamboo, a Siamese mix; Storm, a black and white mutant cat (extra fingers); and Bones, the only boy in the household.

Carey, Veterinary Assistant
Carey worked previously at Kittredge Animal Clinic for several years.  She has experience in human medicine from her EMT, Wilderness First Responder, Mountain Search and Rescue, Avalance Rescue, and Red Cross Shelter Operations certifications.  She lives in Lawson with three kids: Shooter the coonhound, Denver the beagle and Fibi the sheepdog.  She is an outdoors enthusiast and a fan of all things four-legged.

Susan MacKay, Certified Veterinary Technician

Susan was born and raised here in beautiful Colorado. After 15 years in the computer industry and raising her three sons, she decided it was time to pursue her true passion: animals. She went back to school to become a Certified Veterinary Technician.
Since graduating three years ago from The Bel-Rea Institute, she has loved every minute of her new career and feels like she has truly found a home here at Beaver Brook Pet Center.  She currently lives in Littleton with two of her three sons, the eldest recently moving to California. Then of course there are the four-legged kids, Sophie the Jack Russell and Molly the Cock-a-Poo, who are truly spoiled!  In her free time, Susan likes to read by the fireplace, go hiking, camping, and taking long motorcycle rides through the gorgeous Rockies.

Client Care Team

Jennifer Kogan, Client Care Specialist
Jen was born & raised in Milwaukee WI.  At age 6 she grew interested in marine biology and never looked back.  Jen graduated from college with degrees in Biology and Environmental Studies which led her all over the U.S. and the Caribbean, then finally settling in Maui where she enjoyed the wide variety of sea life and marine biology jobs on the island.  She moved to Colorado in the summer of 2007 to be closer to family and at that point she joined our team.  Jen is an avid SCUBA diver and enjoys her involvement in various conservation projects.  She shares her life with Mattie, a 13 year old Aussie/Husky mix who adores being back in snowy weather.

Kennel Technicians

Brenda Kick, Kennel Technician
Brenda was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin.  After high school, she attended UW-Madison and graduated with a B.S. in Animal Science in December 2008.  All through college, she spent her time working at a lab on campus caring for primates.  She says her current charges - the dogs, cats, chinchillas and birds she cares for here at Beaver Brook - are usually much easier to care for!
In the summer of 2009, she decided to embark on a journey out of Wisconsin and ended up in Denver.  She is enjoying living in Colorado and keeps active by visiting all the wonderful parks the state has to offer.

Sarah Ahland, Kennel Technician

Sarah was born in California and lived there for 18 years. She misses the ocean and all it has to offer but is happily making Colorado her home! She moved to Denver two years ago to attend The Bel-Rea Institute in order to pursue her dream of becoming a Veterinarian Technician. She will graduate in June after completing her internship with Beaver Brook Pet Center. Sarah lives on Floyd Hill with her roommate and their 4 dogs: Beaumen- an Australian Shepherd, Peanut- a Terrier mix, Addison- a Newfoundland, and Jessie- a Catahoula Cattle Dog. In her free time, Sarah enjoys hiking with her dogs, reading, and any water activity!
