Wellness exams and vaccines Because our pets age much faster than we do, thorough, regular exams are vital to maintain your pet's great health and catch any diseases at their earliest onset. We recommend yearly physical exams for younger pets and twice yearly exams for adult and senior pets. We recommend the twice yearly exam for older pets because their aging issues can begin to snowball as they get into their senior years. Your pet will be given its own personal vaccination schedule developed by our doctors. We count on you to note changes in behavior, appetite, elimination habits, coat condition, and others. Anything that is out of the ordinary points to the need for an exam by one of our doctors. While it may be tempting to wait and see if things clear up, when your pet isn't feeling his best, nothing takes the place of a thorough exam by a trained professional. A good example is when your pet is vomiting - something that may at first glance appear benign. Click here for an exhaustive list of possible causes of vomiting.

Surgery including orthopedics and laser surgery We have the capability to perform all surgical procedures from spays and neuters to advanced orthopedic procedures. We also have the services of a board certified veterinary surgeon if the surgery warrants a specialist. We take our surgical procedures very seriously! We utilize only the safest anesthetic drugs both in the beginning and throughout the procedure. We will have two surgical monitors on your pet at all times; one to monitor the heart and the other to monitor breathing. We also have Bair Huggers, which are specialized heating blankets, to keep your pet at its optimum body temperature during the surgery. We have been using a laser surgical unit since 2001, providing our patients with the benefits of reduced bleeding, less post-operative pain, and lower risk of infection. We also follow the recommendations of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management when it comes to pain protection for your pet. And each pet will have a trained technician in charge of him, from the time he is admitted to surgery, to the minute he goes home with you.

Ultrasound The ultrasound machine is used to visualize the soft tissues of the body. This powerful diagnostic tool enables us to see all the organs in the abdomen without using any sedation. It enables the doctors to look for diseases such as bladder and kidney stones, bladder cancer, obstructions and cancer of the intestines. It also allows the doctors to examine the size and shape of the kidneys, liver and spleen.

Acupuncture Dr. Manobla graduated in 2003 from CSU Veterinary School's Acupuncture Education Course. Veterinary acupuncture follows ancient Chinese traditions and is now being embraced in veterinary medicine for its numerous benefits in arthritic and geriatric conditions, just to name a few. As with ultrasound, Dr. Manobla does not use any anesthesia; most pets will just lie down and relax once the acupuncture needles have been placed. Most dogs and cats accept acupuncture treatment without any hesitation, and you can stay with your pet during the 15 minute treatment.
Laboratory services We have a full service laboratory with the capability to perform certain essential lab tests right in the hospital, as well as a twice-a-day commercial veterinary laboratory pick up for more comprehensive services. Click here for details about the types of tests we perform.
